EFT Tapping for Fear, Pain and Change: Anjali’s Story

Finding freedom, healing and hope with Emotional Freedom Techniques

Many people discover EFT Tapping when they feel stuck, whether physically, emotionally, or spiritually. This true story of Anjali, one of my EFT clients, shows how tapping can help release fear, restore confidence, and open the door (literally!) to new possibilities, even later in life.

About Anjali

I had the privilege of working with Anjali, an elder friend I first met when she and her husband hosted a local metaphysical discussion group. They once invited me to speak at one of their gatherings and later shared wonderfully kind feedback about my presentation and demonstrations.

When we began our EFT sessions online, Anjali was in a great deal of pain and sleeping in a recliner because of spinal fractures. She confided that she was “scared to death of falling and not being able to get up.”

Once an active, social woman, she had become isolated. Climbing the stairs to shower was too difficult, so she had been taking sponge baths for over a month.

Releasing Fear and Making Space for Change

In our first EFT tapping session we focused on calming her nervous system
and clearing the emotional overwhelm that was keeping her stuck.

After a few rounds of tapping, Anjali felt lighter and more open to new ideas. I shared information about local programs that help seniors access mobility supports such as lifts for beds and stairs.

Then I gently suggested that moving to a single-level home might make life easier, but she felt strong resistance. Leaving her home of twenty years brought up grief and stress. So, we tapped on those feelings. I also mentioned services that specialize in helping seniors downsize and move with ease, knowledge of which gave her some hope.

By the end of the session, she said she felt “happier and more optimistic.”

A few days later when I checked in to see how she was doing she reported;

In one week I have

  • shifted out of most of the fear
  • a remedy for the pain in my feet appeared
  • got up the stairs, showered
  • reduced my pain meds by half…

Ta Da: I’d say that’s pretty good.

Tapping for Confidence and Feelings of Calm

A couple of weeks later, during our second session, Anjali shared that she had applied for funding for a stair lift and was even considering a move to a seniors’ residence.

She still felt anxious and overwhelmed, so we used tapping for stress relief and confidence building. Afterwards, she told me she felt a sense of “aliveness” she hadn’t experienced in a long time.

We also tapped on her fear of losing control over her body and mind. Tapping helped her feel more peaceful and even playful. She laughed and said she wanted to tell me how “brilliant” she was, listing her Wordle scores and sharp problem-solving skills as proof!

Healing Emotional Patterns from the Past

As we continued, memories surfaced about her childhood and her relationship with her mother, who Anjali described as a woman often driven by fear and over protectiveness. Her mother’s anxieties had shaped many of Anjali’s own fears about safety and self-expression.

So we tapped again and gently released some of the tension, sadness and limiting beliefs that originated during those childhood experiences.

Imagining a Better Future

Eventually, our conversations turned to practical next steps. We talked about the possibility of moving closer to her daughter, who lived three hours away and while supportive, was busy managing a life of her own.

I suggested to Anjali that moving into a community setting might ease her sense of isolation and loneliness by enhancing her social circle, while creating more physical safety and ease. We tapped through her resistance, money worries, and uncertainty about the future.

I referred her to a trusted and ethically minded, local financial planner and then invited her to imagine her ideal living situation.

After some gentle tapping, she envisioned:

  • Two bathrooms
  • A cozy sofa facing large windows with a view
  • Space for her art
  • Three healthy meals a day
  • Laundry and cleaning services
  • A sense of safety and peace, knowing that if she fell, help would be available

When she said it would be impossible to find a place like that, we tapped again to release the “impossible.” I suggested maybe they could find two adjoining suites, like hotel rooms connected by a door. That idea made her smile — and she ended the session feeling lighter and more hopeful.

Manifesting the Dream

A few days later, Anjali texted me with exciting news:

“We found a place near our daughter — two adjoining independent-living suites, the only setup like that in a building of 186 units!”

I was thrilled!

Exactly four months after our first EFT session, Anjali and her husband moved into their new home — seventh floor, mountain view, delicious food, friendly people, and an easier, happier life.

When I congratulated her on Facebook, she replied:

“Here’s the door that you predicted — or maybe manifested — between the two suites!
Thank you for your help with the EFT sessions. They were such a support for this BIG change. ❤️”

Room with an open door

Stories like this are why I love this work. Through tapping, courage, intention and imagination, Anjali turned fear into freedom and created a new chapter filled with connection, and comfort.
